Bianca Gegea is a visual artist based in Dublin working across painting, sculpture, installation and moving image. Her practice considers painting as both image and physical structure, examining how surface, support, reflection and projection shape what can be seen and how an image is encountered. Her recent work explores memory, translation and loss through repetition, erasure and reconstruction. Forms surface, recede and interrupt one another through an intuitive process of building and erasing colour, moving between muted, translucent and saturated passages. Rather than functioning as removal, erasure becomes a way of rebuilding the image, leaving traces of earlier forms embedded within the surface. The works remain deliberately unresolved, occupying a space between recognition and abstraction and asking what survives when an image is transformed, fragmented or no longer fully recoverable.
